Reuters reported on May 19 that Polymarket is partnering with Nasdaq Private Market to introduce contracts linked to private-company performance.
Prediction markets allow users to trade on the outcomes of future events, with prices reflecting market expectations for the likelihood of those events.
Polymarket said the new service will cover events including company valuations, the timing of initial public offerings and secondary-market trading activity in private shares.
The company said the service could provide institutional investors with a new tool for price discovery.
Nasdaq Private Market will also serve as the provider of outcome-resolution data for private-company markets on Polymarket, it added.
Reuters said investor interest in private markets has been rising as companies remain private for longer before going public.
Polymarket said there are currently about 1,600 unicorns worldwide with a combined valuation of more than $5 trillion.
