US stocks opened higher ahead of Nvidia's earnings report.

The Nasdaq rose 0.47% shortly after the open on May 20, while the S&P 500 gained 0.21%, Reuters reported. The Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 0.03%.

Chip stocks rebounded ahead of Nvidia's quarterly results, helping lift the Nasdaq and the S&P 500 at the open, Reuters said. Investors are viewing Nvidia's earnings report as a key test of demand for artificial intelligence.

Nvidia is set to report fiscal 2026 first-quarter earnings for the February-April period at 6 a.m. Korea time on May 21.
