MoonPay, a crypto payments company, has launched a tokenization platform for banks.
CoinDesk reported on May 21 that MoonPay introduced MoonPay Trade, a platform that gives banks and fintech companies access to tokenized assets, decentralized finance and stablecoin liquidity.
MoonPay Trade supports connections to more than 200 blockchains through a single integration. The platform uses technology from Decentxyz, a cross-chain routing startup that MoonPay recently acquired.
It supports tokenized fund subscriptions, collateral transfers and integrations with DeFi lending protocols. MoonPay Trade also connects with Morpho, Aave and Maple Finance, allowing users to earn yield on blockchain networks or borrow against digital assets as collateral.
The launch comes as the tokenization market expands rapidly. RWA.xyz data show the market capitalization of real-world assets has recently surpassed $33 billion, tripling from a year earlier. Boston Consulting Group has projected the RWA market could grow to $18.9 trillion by 2033.
MoonPay Trade will serve as the execution arm of MoonPay Institutional, the company's business unit for institutional clients. The division is led by former acting chair of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission Caroline Pham.
