Blast Reported Outside Tanker Near Strait of Hormuz Off Oman

A blast was reported outside an oil tanker near the Strait of Hormuz. No casualties have been reported.

Reuters and Agence France-Presse reported on May 26 that UK Maritime Trade Operations received a report of an explosion outside a vessel off the coast of Oman. The blast occurred near the waterline on the port side while the ship was about 60 nautical miles from Muscat, Oman's capital.

The crew and the vessel were reported safe. The ship said some bunker fuel had spilled into the sea.
