Iran is ready to complete efforts to end conflict and tensions in the Middle East, President Masoud Pezeshkian said.

Pezeshkian made the remarks on May 26 to Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who mediated negotiations over a memorandum of understanding with the US on ending the war, Iranian media including Fars reported.

In a statement, Iran’s presidential office said Pezeshkian thanked the Qatari government for its support and “continuous and constructive efforts” in the peace process. He also stressed Iran’s readiness to move toward a “dignified framework” to end the war and current regional tensions.

“Now it is time for the other side, the US, to show its will,” he said.

Serious efforts are under way to finalize the relevant documents and provisions, including expert-level talks, to create a clear path toward stability, he added.

Earlier, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who is leading Iran’s delegation, visited Doha for talks with the US on ending the conflict.

The main agenda item in the Qatar talks was the release of Iranian assets frozen by the US.

Tasnim News Agency, citing a person close to Iran’s negotiating team, reported that Iran’s 14-point draft agreement to end the war includes a demand for the release of $24 billion in Iranian overseas assets frozen by the US.

Separately, Pezeshkian said he emphasized solidarity and cooperation among Muslim countries in calls with leaders of major Islamic nations during Eid al-Adha.

In a post on X, he said he spoke with the leaders of Iraq, Oman, Qatar, Turkey, Tajikistan, Egypt, Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan to convey holiday greetings. He added that he hopes to see full mutual support among countries in confronting various threats.
