Foreign Investors Sell South Korean Stocks for Fourth Straight Month

Foreign investors were net sellers of South Korean stocks for a fourth consecutive month, according to data compiled by the Financial Supervisory Service.

Foreign investors sold a net 4.046 trillion won ($2.93 billion) worth of shares on the Kospi and Kosdaq markets in April, the regulator said on May 29. By region, Asian investors accounted for the largest net sales at 1.8 trillion won ($1.30 billion).

That was sharply lower than the record 43.505 trillion won ($31.53 billion) in net selling recorded in March. As of the end of April, foreign investors held 2,121.4 trillion won ($1.54 trillion) of listed stocks, equal to 32.5% of total market capitalization.
