Iran's Foreign Ministry said negotiations with the US are ongoing, but the two sides have yet to reach a final agreement. Markets are closely watching for signs of progress in the talks between Washington and Tehran.

Walter Bloomberg reported on May 29 that Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said there is "no final, definitive agreement with the United States at this point."

The comment came after recent reports that the US and Iran had reached a political understanding and could sign a memorandum of understanding to extend a 60-day ceasefire.

The two countries have continued talks on extending the ceasefire, resuming nuclear negotiations and normalizing the Strait of Hormuz. Major differences remain over limits on uranium enrichment, the scope of sanctions relief and the release of frozen assets.

Markets are assessing whether the outcome of the US-Iran talks could sway global financial assets, including oil, gold and the dollar. Neither side has officially confirmed that a final agreement has been reached.
