ETF Assets Enter 500 Trillion-Won Era, Closing In on Kosdaq

The net asset value of exchange-traded funds in South Korea has surpassed 500 trillion won, bringing the ETF market closer to the Kosdaq.
Data from the Korea Exchange showed ETF net asset value reached 501.8199 trillion won on May 27, ushering in the 500 trillion-won era. That was equivalent to 85% of the Kosdaq market’s capitalization as of May 29.
The largest ETF by market capitalization was KODEX 200 at 28.4381 trillion won. As of May 29, that was bigger than EcoPro BM, the largest company on the Kosdaq, which had a market capitalization of 21.2292 trillion won.
The second-largest fund was the TIGER U.S. S&P 500 ETF at 18.4427 trillion won. That would make it the fourth-largest by market value on the Kosdaq, behind EcoPro BM, Alteogen at 19.7197 trillion won, and EcoPro at 18.9 trillion won.
