Arthur Hayes Says HYPE Will Beat Every Top-10 Crypto by Year-End
Summary
- Arthur Hayes said he had proposed a public bet on HYPE's returns through the end of the year.
- Hayes said HYPE would outperform the top 10 cryptocurrencies in dollar-denominated returns by the end of this year.
- The remarks have renewed attention on HYPE's relative strength and investor preference for new altcoins over large-cap cryptocurrencies.

BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes has proposed a public wager on Hyperliquid's HYPE and its returns through year-end. The challenge comes as the altcoin market debates whether high-growth tokens can outperform larger cryptocurrencies.
On June 1, Hayes wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that he wanted to make a "gentleman's charity bet" with Kyle Samani. He said he would put up $100,000 for a charity chosen by Samani and argued that HYPE would post a better dollar-denominated return by the end of this year than any of the current top 10 cryptocurrencies.
Hayes then asked Samani, "Who is your champion?" The comment suggested that Samani should name a top-ranked cryptocurrency to compete against HYPE.
The remarks came as HYPE has been drawing strong interest in the altcoin market. Hayes's public emphasis on HYPE's relative strength has renewed attention on the contest for returns between large-cap cryptocurrencies and newer altcoins.
