South Korea’s Financial Security Institute is launching a training program to cultivate specialists in digital-asset security. The initiative comes as discussions continue on institutionalizing token securities, or STOs, and stablecoins, and as the financial industry prepares to introduce digital-asset services.

The institute said on June 2 that it had established a "digital-asset specialist training course" for financial companies and virtual-asset service providers. The program will run for 11 weeks from June through August.

The course will consist of classroom and practical training on digital assets, along with project work. Participants will study blockchain and smart-contract development and security, while carrying out hands-on projects with mentoring from internal and external experts.

The curriculum includes blockchain protocol fundamentals, next-generation cryptographic technologies, blockchain infrastructure architecture and node security exercises, smart-contract architecture and advanced development security, and smart-contract vulnerability analysis and attack simulations.

The program will also cover smart-contract security verification and audits, service security practices and virtual-asset governance, as well as blockchain transaction analysis and forensics. Specialists from the Financial Security Institute will also participate directly in lectures and mentoring to support the training of hands-on digital-asset security professionals.

Park Sang-won, president of the Financial Security Institute, said securing a safe and reliable digital-asset security framework is becoming increasingly important as digital-asset services and infrastructure begin to be adopted in earnest across the financial sector alongside institutionalization efforts.

He added that the institute will proactively train hands-on specialists and actively support the financial sector in strengthening its digital-asset security capabilities so digital-asset services can take hold in a stable manner.
