Netanyahu Says Iranian Regime Will Eventually Collapse as Middle East Tensions Rise
Summary
- Netanyahu said the Iranian regime will eventually collapse, adding to rising Middle East tensions.
- He said tensions surrounding Lebanon and the Strait of Hormuz, along with the possibility of a blockade, are being raised.
- Markets say broader Middle East tensions could weigh on international oil prices, risk-asset sentiment, energy supply, inflation and the interest-rate path.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made fresh hard-line remarks on Iran, saying its regime would eventually collapse. The comments come as uncertainty persists over a ceasefire between the US and Iran, while tensions between Israel and Iran rise again.
Odaily, a cryptocurrency-focused media outlet, reported on June 2 that Netanyahu made the remarks at a swearing-in ceremony for the new head of Israel's intelligence agency Mossad.
"The Iranian regime will eventually collapse," Netanyahu said.
He added that any force seeking to harm Israel would fail and pay a very heavy price. Iran has already paid a severe price, he said, and the foundations of its regime have been shaken to the point that it cannot return to the past.
The remarks came as tensions mounted over Lebanon and the Strait of Hormuz. Iran had earlier argued that all fronts, including Lebanon, should be covered by a ceasefire agreement, and the possibility of a closure of the Strait of Hormuz was also raised.
Markets are watching whether broader Middle East tensions could weigh on international oil prices and sentiment toward risk assets. If concerns over energy supply disruptions intensify, uncertainty over inflation and the path of interest rates could also come into sharper focus.
