Information exchanges between the US and Iran over a preliminary memorandum have been halted for several days, according to a report, adding to uncertainty over ceasefire negotiations and transit through the Strait of Hormuz.

BlockBeats, a crypto-focused media outlet, reported on June 2 that Iran's Fars News, citing a source, said the exchanges tied to the preliminary memorandum between Tehran and Washington had been suspended for at least several days.

The reason for the halt and any timing for a resumption were not disclosed. Iran has recently raised the possibility of suspending dialogue and document exchanges through mediators.

The report comes as the US and Iran remain at odds over implementation of a ceasefire. Iran has argued that all fronts, including Lebanon, should fall under the ceasefire agreement, while passage through the Strait of Hormuz has emerged as a key market variable.

Markets are watching whether a prolonged delay in negotiations could raise risks to Middle East energy supplies and weigh on sentiment toward risk assets. Renewed tensions around the Strait of Hormuz could also increase volatility in global oil prices and cryptocurrency markets.
