Iran attacked Kuwait International Airport with drones and missiles, halting operations at the airport.
Reuters reported on June 3 that Kuwait's Directorate General of Civil Aviation said Iran's drone and missile attack destroyed Terminal 1 at Kuwait International Airport and caused casualties. Kuwaiti aviation authorities immediately suspended operations and diverted incoming flights to other airports.
The attack came two days after international passenger flights resumed at Kuwait International Airport on June 1. The airport had been unable to operate normally for some time after suffering damage from Iranian retaliatory airstrikes on neighboring countries following the outbreak of the Iran war in February.
The strike on Kuwait's airport came as the US and Iran exchanged attacks. Earlier, US Central Command fired a missile on June 2 at the Botswana-flagged tanker Lexi in the Persian Gulf.
In a statement on June 3, Iran's Foreign Ministry said the US attack on the tanker violated the ceasefire agreement and international law. It added that Kuwait and Bahrain bore direct and clear responsibility, claiming their territory and facilities were used to support US military operations against Iran.
