President Donald Trump said negotiations with Iran are moving quickly.

In an interview on the New York Post podcast on June 3, Trump said the talks were advancing rapidly. He added that Iran would not obtain a nuclear weapon and that "other good things" would follow. Trump also expressed regret over the recent conflict between the US and Iran, saying an agreement could be reached "fairly quickly."

Trump also referred to Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran's new supreme leader. "They respect him very much," Trump said. "I'd like to meet him." He added that he would probably meet Mojtaba at some point, depending on how events unfold.

Mojtaba became Iran's supreme leader in early March. He has not appeared in public in an official capacity.

US authorities believe Mojtaba is in hiding in an isolated location and is receiving updates on negotiations with Washington. Secretary of State Marco Rubio told a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on June 2 that Mojtaba is alive and involved in decision-making within the Iranian regime.
