Rubio Says Greenland Is ‘For Now’ Part of Denmark
Forecast Trend Report by Period

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Greenland is, "for now," part of Denmark when asked about the territory’s status. Investors are watching U.S. Arctic strategy and diplomatic moves involving Greenland.
Walter Bloomberg reported on June 3 that Rubio said talks on security cooperation among the U.S., Denmark and Greenland are moving in a positive direction.
The discussions are currently focused on missile defense and expanded military cooperation.
Asked whether Greenland is Danish territory, Rubio replied: "For now."
He added that talks among the U.S., Denmark and Greenland are being held every month and could eventually expand U.S. defense and military access.
The remarks came after diplomatic friction between the U.S. and Denmark when Washington previously raised the possibility of buying Greenland. Greenland is currently a self-governing territory of Denmark.
Market interest in the issue has persisted as Arctic shipping routes, rare earth resources and Greenland’s military strategic value draw increased attention.
