South Korea’s Kospi opened lower on June 4, slipping to the 8,600 level early in the session.
As of 9:10 a.m., the Kospi had fallen 201.55 points, or 2.29%, from the previous close to 8,599.94. The Kosdaq was up 30.65 points, or 2.99%, at 1,056.68.
Most of the Kospi’s largest stocks by market capitalization were lower. Samsung Life Insurance dropped 9.48%, Hyundai Motor fell 3.70%, Samsung Electronics preferred shares lost 3.46%, SK Hynix declined 3.09%, Samsung Electronics slipped 2.64%, and SK Square was down 1.63%.
By contrast, Samsung C&T rose 2.88%, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries gained 2.53%, Samsung Electro-Mechanics added 0.99%, and LG Energy Solution advanced 0.45%.
