Iran has denied attacking Kuwait International Airport.

BlockBeats and other outlets reported on June 4 that Hossein Mohebi, a spokesman for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, said Iran’s aerospace force did not strike Kuwait airport and that Tehran had secured evidence to support that claim.

Kuwait’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation said on June 3 that an Iranian drone and missile attack destroyed Terminal 1 at Kuwait International Airport and caused casualties. Iran, however, said the damage at the airport was caused by a malfunction in the US Patriot missile defense system.

The US immediately rejected Iran’s account. US Central Command called the claim “completely false” and said Iran had carried out a deliberate and unjustified attack on Kuwait.

Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry summoned Iran’s chargé d’affaires in Kuwait after the incident to protest. It also declared two Iranian diplomats persona non grata and ordered them to leave the country within 24 hours.
