“Telecom networks will be used for AI in the future”
“I had dinner with Chairman Jay Y. Lee a few weeks ago”

Nvidia Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang said on June 7 that “there may be a few announcements tomorrow,” referring to June 8.
Huang spoke to reporters during a dinner meeting at Kkanbu Chicken’s Samsung branch in Seoul’s Gangnam district with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won and senior executives from SK hynix and SK Telecom. Nvidia is working with the companies across a range of industries, he said, including AI supercomputers, CPUs, new PCs and robotics.
Asked why SK Telecom executives were part of the meeting, Huang said telecom networks are now used to transmit data but will also be used for artificial intelligence in the future. AI supercomputers will play a growing role in telecommunications, he added. Nvidia is holding multiple discussions with SK Telecom and hopes to reinvent telecom networks for the AI era.
Huang said Nvidia and SK hynix have had a very big year together and are making major preparations for the second half of this year and for next year. He added that Nvidia unveiled its Vera CPU this year and plans to use SK hynix memory in that product as well.
Huang and Chey spent about an hour over chicken and beer at the June 7 gathering in Seoul. They are set to continue talks on cooperation in artificial intelligence and semiconductors on June 8 at SK’s headquarters building.
Later that day, Huang is also scheduled to meet Jun Young-hyun, the Samsung Electronics vice chairman who leads the company’s semiconductor business. Asked at Kkanbu Chicken whether he planned to visit Samsung Electronics on June 8, Huang said he was looking forward to meeting Jun. The two are set to discuss pending issues related to memory supply, including high-bandwidth memory, or HBM.
Samsung Electronics and SK hynix currently supply Nvidia with DRAM products including HBM. Both companies’ HBM4, the sixth generation of the technology, is also slated to be used in Nvidia’s next-generation AI accelerator, Vera Rubin.
Huang is also scheduled to visit SK’s Seorin Building and then LG Twin Towers in Yeouido on June 8 to meet LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, LG Electronics President Ryu Jae-cheol and other senior executives. He is then scheduled to visit Seoul National University, Hyundai Motor Group’s Yangjae headquarters and Naver’s headquarters for meetings with Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Euisun Chung and Naver Chairman Lee Hae-jin, among others.
