MetaMask Launches Non-Custodial Wallet for AI Agents
Forecast Trend Report by Period

MetaMask has launched a non-custodial wallet for artificial intelligence agents, offering infrastructure that allows AI bots to trade, provide liquidity and carry out other activities across the Ethereum ecosystem on users' behalf.
The crypto-focused media outlet The Block reported on June 8 that MetaMask released Agent Wallet, a non-custodial wallet built for AI agents.
Agent Wallet is designed to let AI agents trade autonomously on Ethereum Virtual Machine-compatible chains and Hyperliquid. Supported functions include token swaps, perpetual futures, prediction markets and liquidity provision.
"The next expansion of the on-chain economy won't be driven by humans alone," Consensys founder Joe Lubin said. He added that machine intelligence will increasingly trade, coordinate and verify one another on crypto-based infrastructure.
MetaMask said Agent Wallet was built with security at its core, as user funds must remain protected even as AI agents are granted more autonomy.
All transactions must be simulated and comply with rules set in advance by users, including daily spending limits and allowlists.
Blockaid also monitors transactions. Trades flagged as potential scams or threats, or those that fall outside user-defined parameters, require approval through two-factor authentication push notifications or email confirmation.
"Agents will manage real capital and make real financial decisions," Lubin said. "The infrastructure beneath them needs to meet that standard." He described Agent Wallet as a wallet designed to balance autonomy, security and user control.
Consensys said transactions deemed safe may be protected for up to $10,000 through MetaMask Transaction Protection, subject to terms and conditions.
Agent Wallet is framework-agnostic and compatible with OpenClaw, OpenAI Codex, Claude Code, Nous Research Hermes Agent and Cursor.
MetaMask is currently running an early-access program for a limited group of users through a command-line interface. A broader release is scheduled for this summer.
