President Donald Trump said Iran will pay a price for delaying a negotiated settlement.
Writing on Truth Social on June 10, Trump said "a substantial part" of Iran's military, including its navy and air force, "no longer exists" and that the country had been "completely defeated."
Iran took too long to conclude what would have been "a great deal" for itself, he wrote. "Now they will suffer the consequences."
Military clashes between the two countries resumed after Iran shot down a U.S. Army Apache helicopter patrolling over the Strait of Hormuz on June 8. Trump had previously said the U.S. would have to respond to the attack.
