CoinDesk reported on June 11 that the company rolled out Coinbase for Agents, a platform that directly links AI agents with user accounts.
The platform allows AI agents to trade crypto spot products and derivatives within risk and spending limits set by users.
It is also designed to let agents independently retrieve market data and pay for online services.
Users can assign tasks such as portfolio rebalancing and automated trading strategy execution to AI through natural-language commands without complex programming.
Coinbase said the offering is intended to support an "agent economy" in which AI moves beyond providing information to carrying out real financial activity.
The company added that it plans to expand support beyond digital assets to include stocks and prediction markets.
