President Donald Trump said negotiations between the US and Iran are effectively in their final stages.
In an interview with the New York Post on June 11, Trump said a deal with Iran was "pretty much wrapped up."
He added that the talks were nearing the finish line and could conclude soon.
The comments came after Trump previously said he had canceled a planned strike on Iran.
The US and Iran have recently continued talks over Tehran's nuclear program, sanctions relief and the release of frozen assets.
Trump also claimed a day earlier that Iran's top leadership had approved the proposal and that a final signing was imminent.
Iran has yet to officially confirm whether a final agreement has been reached.
Markets are watching for whether a US-Iran agreement would ease geopolitical risk in the Middle East and affect international oil prices, safe-haven assets and sentiment toward global risk assets.
