President Donald Trump said an agreement with Iran has cleared all of Tehran’s internal approval procedures.

Walter Bloomberg reported on June 11 that Trump made the claim.

Trump also said the agreement would prevent Iran from possessing nuclear weapons.

He recently said US-Iran negotiations were effectively in their final stage and that a final signing could take place in Europe as early as this weekend.

Trump also said he had canceled a planned military strike on Iran and that any closure of the Strait of Hormuz would be lifted after the deal is signed.

Iran’s government has not officially confirmed that a final agreement has been reached.

Iran’s semi-official Fars news agency earlier reported that the US had accepted Iran’s proposed text. It said the odds of approval were high, but the formal approval process for the final document had not yet been completed.

Markets are watching whether the US and Iran actually sign a deal, which could ease Middle East geopolitical risks and affect crude oil prices, gold and sentiment toward global risk assets.
