A signing ceremony for a memorandum of understanding to end the war between the US and Iran will most likely be held in Switzerland, CNN reported.
CNN, citing multiple sources, reported on June 12 that Geneva is the leading candidate to host the signing ceremony for the US-Iran memorandum of understanding. A day earlier, on June 11, President Donald Trump said the US had reached "a great agreement" with Iran on the war and that the deal would be finalized within days, with a signing ceremony "probably" taking place in Europe.
CNN said the ceremony would mark the start of "phase two" diplomatic negotiations to implement the memorandum of understanding. The pact is being referred to as the "Islamabad Declaration" in recognition of Pakistan's central mediating role, it reported.
Still, nothing has been finalized. CNN said an Iranian source indicated that Vienna is also being discussed as a possible venue.
