Global cryptocurrency exchange Bitget said it has secured a license for its Argentina business.

Bitget said on June 12 it completed registration as a Virtual Asset Service Provider, or PSAV, with Argentina’s National Securities Commission, known as the CNV. The registration allows the exchange to provide services under anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing oversight by regulators including Argentina’s Financial Information Unit, or UIF.

Argentina is one of Latin America’s most active crypto markets, according to Bitget. The company said about 20% of the country’s population currently uses cryptocurrencies. Use of crypto platforms is also rising as demand grows for alternative financial infrastructure and access to global markets.

Bitget plans to use the license to strengthen its business base in Argentina. The company said Argentina is part of its broader Latin America expansion strategy.

Chief Executive Officer Gracy Chen said digital-asset regulation is steadily advancing across Latin America and described Argentina as a key hub in the region’s digital-asset market.
