CNN reported on June 12, citing sources, that Israel is pressing Washington to block the release of frozen Iranian assets as part of a ceasefire agreement.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been speaking regularly with President Donald Trump, CNN reported. The two also spoke on the night of June 11, shortly after Trump said several Middle Eastern countries supported the ceasefire arrangement and that Israel was among them.
Netanyahu was said to have reacted with surprise after Trump announced on June 11 that a memorandum of understanding, or MOU, between the US and Iran to end hostilities was close. “Israel had absolutely no knowledge that any agreement with Iran was imminent, or that any deal had been approved,” a source told CNN.
Axios also reported, citing multiple sources, that Netanyahu had not been informed of the matter before Trump’s announcement.
