Iran's Foreign Ministry said June 12 that approval of a memorandum of understanding, or MOU, with the US to end the war remains under internal coordination.
Mehr News Agency quoted Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei as saying the provisional agreement is still under domestic review and no final decision has been made.
Relevant state institutions must reach conclusions on every detailed clause of the draft and on all provisional agreements, Baghaei added.
He declined to comment on the timing and location of any signing ceremony. Any agreement can be officially announced only after a final outcome is reached, he said, adding that the ministry would make an announcement immediately once that happens.
Specific matters, including the method of signing the MOU, will be discussed at the next stage, Baghaei said. Reports circulated so far are largely media speculation.
Fars News Agency, an Iranian hard-line outlet, also reported on the matter. Citing a source, Fars said claims by some Western media outlets and by Trump that an MOU signing ceremony would be held in Geneva on Sunday, June 14, are entirely false.
