Iran said it has yet to reach a final agreement with the US, even as speculation builds that a deal between the two countries is close.
Iran is relaying the terms it wants to the US through a Qatari negotiating team currently in Tehran, Fars, the country’s semi-official news agency, reported on June 14, citing its correspondent.
“Nothing has been finalized yet,” the outlet added.
The report came after US President Donald Trump said an agreement with Iran was effectively in its final stages and could be signed soon.
Senior US officials had earlier said they expected the two sides to sign an agreement within days. They said the draft includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz, dismantling Iran’s nuclear program and easing sanctions.
Iran, however, has maintained that talks to coordinate the final text are still under way.
Markets view the two sides as close to a meaningful agreement, though uncertainty remains until any final signing because negotiations over key provisions are continuing.
