Aave Founder Says V4 ‘Spokes’ Key to Liquidity Expansion, Monetization

Aave founder Stani Kulechov said “spokes” in the decentralized finance lending protocol’s V4 architecture will be central to expanding liquidity and monetization.
Writing on X on June 15, Kulechov said “Aave V4 spokes are important for Aave” and described them as lending markets that can scale across general-purpose or customized use cases.
He said the pace of change in DeFi makes it difficult for Aave to build every feature itself. “DeFi moves incredibly fast, and even if we want to, building everything ourselves takes a lot of time,” he wrote.
The spoke structure extends Aave’s liquidity into different areas through partnerships with outside specialist teams. Kulechov said Aave could work with teams with expertise in automated market makers, perpetual futures, fixed-rate lending, and crypto-asset or securities custody.
Partners would gain access to Aave’s deep liquidity and distribution network, while Aave would gain speed, expertise and new monetization opportunities, he said. He added that Aave DAO would earn revenue through fee sharing, with the implementation structured as a direct extension at the protocol level.
Kulechov described Aave V4 spokes as an advantage in scale, speed and monetization, adding that “Aave will win.”
