US Vice President JD Vance said the agreement between the US and Iran has already been executed through electronic signatures. A formal signing ceremony is scheduled for June 19 in Switzerland, but the terms of the deal are already in effect.

Bloomingbit, citing crypto-focused media outlet BlockBeats, reported on June 15 that Vance said the US and Iran signed the agreement electronically over the weekend.

Vance told ABC that "we signed the agreement electronically yesterday, and no funds have been released at this point." He added that "that will not change."

The comments indicate the agreement does not include the release of any newly frozen Iranian funds. Markets had previously viewed the release of funds or the scope of sanctions relief as a key issue in negotiations between Washington and Tehran.

President Donald Trump earlier said the two sides plan to hold a formal signing ceremony in Switzerland on June 19. Announcing the agreement, Trump said that "with the signing of the deal on Friday, the strait will reopen, and once conditions are in place for mine-clearing operations, oil will again flow from both sides of the strait to the region and the rest of the world."

Markets view Vance's comments that the US-Iran agreement is already in force as strengthening expectations for easing Middle East risks. Still, oil prices and risk assets are set to watch for further confirmation, including the formal signing ceremony, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and whether verification procedures are carried out.
