Eleven leveraged exchange-traded funds tied to SpaceX posted heavy trading volume on their first day on the market, as short-term buying poured into the products while SpaceX shares extended their post-listing rally.
Eric Balchunas, a Bloomberg ETF analyst, wrote on X on June 15 that 11 SpaceX leveraged ETFs began trading that day. In the first 30 minutes, SPCH was narrowly leading the group in turnover.
Balchunas added that SPCL ranked second after emerging from a trading halt, while SPCU was also joining the race. Combined turnover reached $119 million within 30 minutes, a performance he called solid.
By first-day trading standards, the funds were all above average, he said. Balchunas wrote that topping $1 million in debut-day turnover alone is impressive, and every one of the new products exceeded that level.
Still, he said only a few of the funds may win lasting investor attention. There is room for only two or three standout products, though the competition remains wide open for now.
The strong debut in SpaceX-linked ETF trading comes as investors show growing interest in innovation-driven growth shares tied to themes such as space and artificial intelligence. SpaceX shares rose more than 8% intraday, lifting the company’s market capitalization above $2 trillion. Buying has also spread to related thematic stocks and derivative-based ETFs.
Market participants are now watching whether trading in SpaceX leveraged ETFs can sustain its early momentum. Because leveraged ETFs are structured to amplify moves in the underlying asset, sharper volatility in SpaceX shares could quickly magnify investor gains or losses.
