The US is preparing to withdraw some of the aerial refueling tankers it deployed to Israel, crypto-focused media outlet Blockbeats reported on June 16, citing Israel's Channel 12. The move follows a memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran and suggests a partial easing of military tensions in the Middle East, with force deployments being adjusted accordingly.

The aircraft due to leave are part of the US tanker fleet stationed at Ben Gurion Airport in Israel.

The withdrawal will cover about 20% of the US military's tanker aircraft deployed there, the report said. Israeli authorities had previously been told the aircraft would remain at the airport at least through the end of this year.

Aerial refueling tankers are a key asset for long-range military operations and fighter jet missions. Preparations to remove some of them may signal that the US is easing part of its military posture in the region following the agreement with Iran.

The US-Iran agreement still awaits a formal signing ceremony on June 19, along with follow-up implementation procedures. Markets are watching whether the US force adjustment will lead to a broader easing of tensions, and whether shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, as well as sanctions and verification procedures, proceed on schedule.
