The Federal Reserve opened its scheduled June Federal Open Market Committee meeting.
Crypto media outlet BlockBeats reported on June 16 that the meeting began at 10 a.m. Eastern time, according to the Fed.
The meeting is the first monetary policy gathering under newly appointed Fed Chair Kevin Warsh. Markets are widely expecting the central bank to leave interest rates unchanged, while watching for Warsh's first policy message and any changes to the economic outlook.
With US inflation pressures, lower oil prices and expectations for a US-Iran agreement pulling in different directions, the FOMC decision stands to be a key driver of sentiment toward risk assets.
