Binance said it will continue providing services to users in the European Union after reports cast doubt on the certainty of its licensing process under the bloc’s Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation, or MiCA. The exchange said it will keep working with regulators while trying to minimize harm to customers.

In a post on X on June 16, Binance said it “remains committed to its European users and will continue operating in compliance with applicable laws.”

The company said it is taking a cautious approach ahead of the end of the MiCA transition period, with customer protection as its priority. Its goal is to minimize confusion and give users sufficient time and clarity. Binance added that it will share details directly with users once more information is confirmed.

On the MiCA licensing process, Binance said it has spent the past 18 months in constructive discussions with regulators. It added that Greece’s regulator has completed its review of the application and, to the company’s understanding, found that it meets MiCA requirements.

Binance also argued that the matter extends beyond a single exchange. Delays or distortions in the MiCA licensing process could reduce liquidity, weaken competition and limit user choice, while pushing activity outside the EU.

MiCA was designed to create a harmonized European regulatory framework for digital assets, the company said. Clear and consistent rules protect users, support innovation and strengthen Europe’s competitiveness, it added.

Binance said its commitment to Europe remains unchanged. It said it will continue working to secure the right path under the MiCA framework and keep users informed of developments.

Bloomberg previously reported that Binance was preparing for the possibility of suspending services in the EU because it had yet to obtain a MiCA license in Greece. Binance has said, however, that it has not formally received notice from Greek authorities that its application was rejected.
