Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf said military conflict must end across the Middle East, including in Lebanon.
Walter Bloomberg reported on June 16 that Qalibaf made the remark during a phone call with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, saying "the war must end on all fronts, including Lebanon."
The comments came after the US and Iran said they had completed signing a memorandum of understanding, or MOU.
US President Donald Trump also recently said a peace agreement with Iran could bring broader stability to the Middle East and urged restraint against further military action in Lebanon.
Trump emphasized that both Israel and Hezbollah should stop any additional attacks.
Markets are increasingly hopeful that progress in US-Iran talks could help ease tensions across the Middle East. Tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border, however, remain a key variable.
