Development of Ethereum’s next major upgrade, known as Glamsterdam, has entered its final stage, CoinDesk reported on June 16.
Ethereum developers are now running fork-based tests to validate the protocol changes included in the Glamsterdam upgrade, according to the crypto media outlet.
Parithosh Jayanthi, a core developer at the Ethereum Foundation, said the team is building a devnet that includes all Ethereum Improvement Proposals, or EIPs.
He described it as the final step before an official launch after bolstering the testnet’s stability and security. While no activation date has been set, the upgrade has made considerable progress, he added.
Glamsterdam is a major upgrade aimed at improving the Ethereum network’s performance and efficiency.
Given the current pace of development, the market expects the upgrade to be activated in the second half of this year.
Meanwhile, Ethereum developers have continued work on follow-up upgrades to improve network scalability and user experience.
