Singapore-based stablecoin issuer StraitsX has added Samsung Pay support to its card-issuing infrastructure.
In a post on its official X account on June 17, StraitsX said issuers can now offer Samsung Wallet card provisioning alongside Apple Pay and Google Pay.
The company said the addition would help maximize its reach in mobile-first markets such as South Korea. It added that Samsung Wallet has more than 18.6 million users in South Korea and that real-world acceptance would expand across more than 60 countries.
Users of cards linked to StraitsX-based stablecoins can add the cards to Samsung Wallet and use them for contactless payments. Ten Yao, StraitsX's head of commercial, said stablecoin cards must work in the payment environments people use every day to have real-world utility.
