Iran said a draft memorandum of understanding with the US includes a provision to gradually end sanctions on Tehran if the sides reach a final agreement.

Walter Bloomberg reported on June 17 that the draft MOU says the US would lift all sanctions on Iran under a timetable agreed by both sides as part of a final agreement framework.

The language suggests Washington would pursue sanctions relief on the condition that Iran accepts limits on its nuclear program and complies with verification procedures.

US officials had previously said Iran would receive economic benefits and sanctions relief only if it fulfilled the obligations set out in the agreement.

President Donald Trump recently said Iran would gain nothing merely by signing the deal, emphasizing that implementation is a precondition for any economic reward.

The US and Iran are currently pursuing an MOU and plan to spend about 60 days negotiating a final agreement after it is signed, including talks on the nuclear program and sanctions relief.
