U.S. Vice President JD Vance said oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz are rapidly returning to normal following a U.S.-Iran agreement.

Walter Bloomberg reported on June 18 that Vance said 12.5 million barrels of oil were transported overnight.

Vance cited the figure as evidence that energy shipments are normalizing after the U.S.-Iran agreement.

The U.S. and Iran have recently been pursuing a memorandum of understanding to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and negotiate over Iran's nuclear program. The two sides are expected to hold follow-up talks toward a final agreement.

In the market, the normalization of the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil shipments, is being viewed as a factor that could ease uncertainty over international oil supplies.
