U.S. Vice President JD Vance said there is no evidence that Iran is still blocking the Strait of Hormuz.
In a Fox News interview on June 20, Vance said 16 million barrels of crude oil moved through the Strait of Hormuz over the past 24 hours. He said that matched prewar levels and showed the waterway was open.
Responding to reports that Iran's remaining naval forces were disrupting ship traffic in the strait, Vance said there was no evidence Tehran was continuing a blockade.
However, shortly after the interview, the Iranian military announced plans to reimpose a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, saying the U.S. and Israel had violated the terms of a memorandum of understanding on ending the war.
