The Kospi fell about 1% on June 22, opening in the 8,900s.
According to the Korea Exchange, the benchmark Kospi stood at 9,021.49 as of 9:07 a.m., down 0.34% from the previous session. The index opened at 8,954.43, down 1.08%, and later trimmed some of its losses.
At the same time, the Kosdaq index rose 0.33% to 969.79. In Seoul's foreign-exchange market, the won-dollar exchange rate opened at 1,530.9 won, up 3.9 won from the previous session.
