Iran’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that technical talks between the US and Iran have begun in Switzerland.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said the talks started in Switzerland on June 22 under a memorandum of understanding framework agreed by the two countries, according to a BlockBeats report citing Xinhua News Agency.

The talks are aimed at coordinating detailed implementation steps for the memorandum of understanding reached earlier by both sides.

Iranian media previously reported that an agreement reached in the first round of negotiations in Switzerland contained five key points. Iran’s central bank also said it had started procedures to secure the release of frozen assets.

Markets are watching whether the technical talks will lead to more detailed follow-up negotiations on issues including Iran’s nuclear program, the release of frozen assets and a ceasefire in Lebanon.
