The US has issued a general license temporarily allowing trade in Iranian crude oil and petrochemical products, Walter Bloomberg, a channel that tracks breaking global economic news, reported on June 22.

The US Treasury Department issued the license to permit the production, delivery and sale of Iranian crude oil, petrochemical products and petroleum products.

The license is valid through Aug. 21. The move creates a temporary regulatory waiver period for energy transactions linked to Iran.

The measure is not a full lifting of sanctions on Iran's energy sector. Instead, it is a general license allowing certain transactions for a limited period.

Markets view the move as coinciding with progress in US-Iran talks and the normalization of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. Temporary permission for Iranian crude transactions could ease supply concerns and put downward pressure on global oil prices.
