U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will travel to the Middle East for a Gulf Cooperation Council, or GCC, meeting.
A U.S. State Department spokesperson said on June 22 that Rubio will visit the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Bahrain from June 23 to June 25.
In Bahrain, he will attend the GCC meeting and discuss a memorandum of understanding, or MOU, between the U.S. and Iran, as well as the Strait of Hormuz.
The trip comes as Washington and Tehran push to sign the MOU and hold follow-up talks.
