Bithumb Sharing, the social contribution brand of cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb, held more than 30 outreach activities across South Korea in the first half of this year, supporting about 5,000 people.
Bithumb said on June 26 that Bithumb Sharing carried out hands-on volunteer programs and daily living support for neighbors in need, including children, seniors, people with disabilities and multicultural families. This year, it expanded its activities to Jeju and launched a university student volunteer group.
Bithumb Sharing visited child welfare facilities to offer skiing, water activities, amusement park outings, barbecue parties and other experiential programs. It also paired those activities with educational sessions including drone training, CPR instruction, fire evacuation training and self-defense classes.
The group also continued programs for seniors. During the Lunar New Year holiday, it served holiday meals to residents of jjokbang neighborhoods, or clusters of tiny single-room dwellings. On March 1, it distributed South Korean flags at the Jongno Senior Welfare Center.
It also hosted birthday parties and traditional culture programs for national merit recipients and elderly people living alone. On Arbor Day and Parents' Day, it held plogging events and distributed carnations.
Support for people with disabilities and other vulnerable groups also expanded. To mark the Day of Persons with Disabilities, Bithumb Sharing visited welfare facilities and special schools to encourage students and teachers. At the Dongdaemun-gu Turtle Walking Festival, employees completed a 4-kilometer course alongside visually impaired participants.
It also donated 3,000 coal briquettes and blankets to energy-vulnerable households. The group ran kimchi-sharing events for multicultural families and programs for pregnant women and single-parent households.
This year, Bithumb Sharing also widened its regional footprint and participant base. In March, it held its first outreach event in Jeju at the Dongjeju Comprehensive Social Welfare Center. In the same month, it launched the first class of the Bithumb Sharing Social Contribution Volunteer Group, made up of university students from across the country, and has continued volunteer activities including coal briquette donations.
During the first half, Bithumb Sharing provided goods worth 750 million won ($543,000), including hooded zip-up jackets, eco bags, diaries and tumblers, as well as coal briquettes and blankets. In April, it received a commendation from the Seoul mayor at the 2026 Donghaeng Seoul Nuri Festival in recognition of its contribution to improving welfare for people with disabilities. It received six institutional commendations in total in the first half.
A Bithumb Sharing official said the group has focused on listening to voices from the field and creating conditions that allow it to stand with neighbors in need. It aims to build a healthy sharing ecosystem in which society and its members can grow together by maintaining relationships beyond one-time support.
