Iran Says US Strikes Violated Ceasefire Deal, Vows to Defend Sovereignty

Iran's government strongly condemned US airstrikes on its territory, calling them a clear violation of a memorandum of understanding between the two countries to end hostilities.
Reuters and CNN reported on June 28 that Iran's Foreign Ministry, in an official statement, said the US attack was evidence of Washington's "nature of failing to honor commitments" and amounted to a breach of the recently reached ceasefire agreement.
The ministry added that the Islamic Republic of Iran "reaffirms its resolve to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity" against US military action.
Earlier, US Central Command said it used Navy and Air Force fighter jets to strike 10 Iranian military targets near the Strait of Hormuz in retaliation for Iranian attacks on commercial vessels in the waterway.
