Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has warned it will reimpose a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz unless Iran is guaranteed sole control over the waterway, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The IRGC conveyed that position to mediators during talks in Doha on July 30, the Journal said. It said the group would resume the blockade if the demand is rejected.
The IRGC also demanded that the US and other countries abandon plans to route ships through southern waters of the strait near Oman.
Disagreements over control of the Strait of Hormuz could further delay negotiations between the US and Iran.
