Mike Selig, chairman of the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission, ruled out the possibility of the United States issuing a central bank digital currency, or CBDC.

In an interview cited by Binance News on July 8, Selig said the US would "never issue a CBDC." He added that President Donald Trump's digital asset working group understands that a CBDC could become a tool to monitor and censor the economic activity of ordinary Americans.

He also stressed that the US would never issue a CBDC under the CFTC's oversight.
