The White House pushed back on Democratic claims that the Trump administration is refusing to nominate Democratic commissioners to independent regulatory agencies.
CryptoAmerica host Eleanor Terrett reported on July 9 that, in a letter to Senate leadership, the White House said it had asked for Democratic recommendations to fill vacancies at the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission but had not received any names.
The letter comes as bipartisan calls grow to quickly appoint opposition-party commissioners to vacant seats at the SEC and CFTC ahead of the Senate’s consideration of the Clarity Act, a crypto market structure bill.
