The U.S. military said it had completed a third round of strikes against Iran.

U.S. Central Command said on X on July 12 that it had conducted precision strikes on about 140 Iranian military targets in response to another Iranian attack on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.

The operation involved land- and sea-based fighter aircraft, drones and naval vessels. Targets included Iranian missile and drone bases, naval facilities, ammunition storage sites, communications networks and coastal surveillance positions.

Over the past three days, CENTCOM said it has struck more than 300 targets to weaken Iran's ability to attack commercial shipping. Commercial vessel traffic through the Strait of Hormuz is continuing, it added.

CENTCOM also said the U.S. military has supported the transit of more than 800 commercial vessels and 400 million barrels of crude oil through the Strait of Hormuz since early May.
